The aims and objectives of the Association are many and varied but always for the benefit of members.
The Association is consulted on licensing matters by the Scottish Parliament and in recent years was represented on the Nicholson Committee which was appointed by the Scottish Executive to carry out a review of Scotland's Liquor Licensing Laws.

The Association is one of a very few trade organisations whose views are sought by all Local Government Authorities and is represented at the various local Licensing Forums and Drug & Alcohol Action Groups.
In addition to its protectionist role, the Association is very aware that in the modern business climate, licensees must also see tangible benefits from any financial outlay and in this connection the Association has negotiated various services and schemes which are available exclusively to SLTA members. |
